About Folke.world

Folke.world is about community development.

There are two primary aims:

Please note there is a focus on inclusivity and community-building, so any listings for paid events are chosen because they are specifically celebrating local community. In the future we hope to find funds to include all other (commercial) activities.

We have a directory that you can search via useful tags & a calendar of events. There is also an associated local asset map here, for anyone that wants to get proper geeky!

Like most tools of this nature, it becomes more useful the more populated it is, and the more people use it. So if you see something missing we should put up here, please do get in touch: folke.world@gmail.com

We are grateful for the local green grant scheme and New Folkestone Society, who very kindly supported the application, to kickstart the project.

The two creators are Dan & Alise.

Dan Fellowes is a Folkestone resident, data analyst & web developer. He develops digital community tools to enable residents to engage with community services, and volunteers with Folkestone Community Fridge & Folkestone Repairs Together.

Alise Kirtley is a Folkestone resident, action-researcher & musician. Her research is on how to build community through food-related activities & narratives, and she's coordinator of our South Kent Coast Food Partnership. Alise is also director of Natural Resonance; an organisation of artists deepening relationships with nature.
